HI all not been on much lately im 7 weeks rthr still walking with 1 crutch as i have a awful limp but have severe osteoarthritis in both hips i went for my 6 week post check yesterday and the surgeon expalained that my limp was because my bad hip has totally worn away my leg has dropped and i will have to use a crutch until the next op which he got me to sign consent form for and put me on the waiting list. imagine my shock when the postman brought the post and a letter telling me my surgery for lthr is on the 6th december so just 10weeks apart im still having pains and soreness from the 1st op and still feeling tired due to not being able to sleep so god knows how im gonna be after the second one. Im 48 and know its gonna be worth having this done as i will get my life back.but what with christmas and everything im feeling a tad nervous physio nurse is still coming in to try and get my right hip as strong as possible but havent been able to totally weight bear yet......

Hi Tracy,
I'm also 7 weeks post op and due for my other THR next May, unless I need it sooner. If you don't feel ready, can you ask for it to be after the New Year? You need to be safe and sure on your operated hip before the next one.
Wishing you all the best
Lou X
Hi Tracy.
Really sad to hear you are having such a bad time. It sounds like you really need to have the other hip sorted to enable you to progress.
That said you must be really fed up. I am also 7 weeks and for all I am weight bearing and managing most things I still have pain in top of operated leg which disturbs my sleep.
Your appointment has come through quickly but yoursurgeon obviously feels you need this quickly to help you get your life back.
So keep positive. The journey can be rough but once it's over you can get on with the healing. Sending you love and a hug. Be positive and you will be fine xxx
You decide when you have yr second op,whether you have signed or not.The decision is yours. So if you dont feel ready and wish to have more recovery time, then thats what you do.I have put mine off till january because of a pulled hamstring which I wish to recover from befor I put myself through the recovery of a painful op.if my hamstring is not better by then, then I will push it on further,my choice.Good luck and rest my dear when you can, some times the body just needs to heel.Jo.x
hi tracy,
I am so sorry to hear this ... It is a toss up -
My story is that at 6 weeks appointment of 1st RTHR , xray showed almost bone-on-bone of Left Hip - 6 months prior same hip showed mild decline of cartilage -Surgeon told me that I needed THR surgery on left hip which was scheduled for 6 months later ---
the time in between was hellish - right hip still recovering and over used due to bad left hip -
Joan is right ... if you don't want surgery on December 6, let them know -
are you in pain as well?
big warm hug and let us know what you decide ....
