Both hips replaced

i have had both hips replaced. Separate surgeries. I have trouble with balance and walking endurance. I want to know if I will ever walk normal again. Will I ever climb stairs again on my own minus a railing?

Yes, you will keep at it. Walk, exercise, eat

Thanks Steve for the encouragement.

Hi Scotty,

Wow, were both surgeries done recently?  Even with one hip replaced it took me several weeks before I felt like I was on the way to a full recovery.  Having both hips done within a few months must be very challenging.  Give yourself time.  Rest often, get up and move as much as possible and use ice packs to help with inflamation.  This will also ease some of the discomfort.

In a few months from now you'll be so glad that you had it done.  It takes up to a year to completely heal, but you should be feeling much better by 3-4 months.  Make sure that you do plenty of physical therapy (physio).  This will help strengthen your muscles back up again.

Judge you progress each week, not daily.  You'll be surprised how much you've overcome in a short period of time.

Wishing you the very best as you continue to recover
