Ok my worst peri symptoms started September last year but have been having symptoms for over 4 years now im 48. Since the crazy anxiety and internal shakiness started in September ..every morning i wake the same and need to run to the loo. Apologies if this is too much info but my poo is no longer solid and hasn’t been for almost a year . Sometime its full on runs and others its just really loose. It has also changed to a lighter colour and often floats... IM sorry for the graphic nature
Has anyone else got similar issues. Who would have thought that having a normal poo would be such a huge deal..haha Menopause gggrrrrrrrrr
I could have wrote this word for word myself, I'm exactly the same way and have been like this since my bad symptoms started 1 1/2 years ago... No need to apologize it's life in the peri world ha ha, hopefully it all gets better in time.. Hugs to ya.
Just so you know, it might not be menopause related. Meno affects many things, but one must remember that sometimes long-term symptoms might be because of something else. For instance, lighter colored, floating stools might mean that something's happening in your gallbladder or pancreas. Is your stool surrounded by yellow-colored liquid?
See, no gross-outs here! We ladies can and do talk about anything! xx
I'm having bowels issues now..one week I'm using it and the next my tummy is bloated with extreme low burning back ache. Have you experience the bloated and burning ?
I've never had any interest in how my poop look but since peri that has changed. So you are not alone.
Sorry you're dealing with this. If you have IBS-D, please know that it's a catch-all diagnosis of many conditions. The same with IBS-C. Has your doctor done any investingating into what's going on?
Hi.. i did wonder that myself.... which is why i asked. I was fine before all this kicked off. As for yellow coloured liquid.. it would be hard to tell as its just a huge splert, but the loo paper does have yellow on it rather than brown. I know my body is not digesting food properly and i have a constant pain in my mid back just on the right hand of my spine which goes round to my lower right rib that does feel sore too. Its not always floating ..my poo, seems to depend on what im eating. My diet is so limited due to gastroparesis and allergies . dont know what to think to be honest.......
Hi yes i had the bloating really nad when it first started bad... now its not so bad .. also getthe buring in my lower back usually when ive eaten something that does not agree with me. Good to know its not just me
Thanks... dont know why but its just freaking me out a bit as i also have back and side pain. Maybe another trip to the docs as ive not had bloods done in a few years. x
Well, because of the fact that you have pain, and gastroparesis, I believe that you're seeing a gastroenterologist. Correct? I think that you might want to have some tests to detemine whether you have gallbladder problems, and a gastro doc would be the best one to have them done and interpret them. The yellow substance is bile. There are two conditions that happen, your gallbladder could be releasing too much bile because it is diseased. The second condition is called Bile Acid Malabsorption. Bile is released into the small intestine during digestion. The body makes a hormone to allow it to be reabsorbed, not passed in the stool. Sometimes the body stops making this hormone for unknown reasons. There is a blood test available to check for the hormone. It was developed by the mayo clinic.
Yes maybe a trip to the doc might ease your mind a bit! I did go and had a stool sample about a month ago and all was fine they said, it was freaking me out to but I had had some diarrhea for a week before hand that was concerning me but all checked out fine they chalk it up as ibs
I too was checked for celiac disease, came back negative, however I read you need to eat gluten before the test, and I refuse to eat it as ive been gluten free for over a year now it makes me so sick! So not sure if the test was a false negative, I do know years ago I had a food allergy test done and was allergic to wheat beef and soy, and just kept on eating except for beef haven't eatn the beef since I was a kid I don't digest it well at all. Also now that I believe I'm in peri/ memo had hysterectomy so don't know where in cycle I'm at, but I've become very sensitive to many many more foods it's awful! Hugs to ya..
Sorry you're having to deal with this, too. A stool sample won't help much, because they're testing the stool, not the liquid surrounding it. The same thing happened to me--the same tests, and I was also told IBS-D, but it ended up being my gallbladder and bile acid malabsorption. Just so you know! xx
Wow definitely good to know! You would think these doctors would say hey let's do further testing just to rule out, it can be so frustrating I tell ya.. But thank you for the info...
Well, sometimes they can be lazy, especially gp's who seem more eager to give you a "diagnosis" with minimal testing, then give you meds to make the symptoms go away. Sometimes, they don't even give out meds for the symptoms or refer patients to specialists! They tell them that it's all in their head and ask if they want a referral to a psychiatrist!
Hi yes I get this for the 2 weeks of the month when I have symptoms, so for me it's obviously related because as soon as I feel better, the nausea goes and my poo goes back to being solid, I always know when I'm feeling right when I have a solid poo!!! I have this app on my phone called Flo and I log all my symptoms everyday so I can see patterns and its analyses the symptoms in relation to where you are in your cycle, and it mentioned that hormone imbalance causes an increase in stomach acid, which explains the nausea, heart burn and digestive 'issues' that we all experience!
