Hello everyone. I have been struggling with chronic constipation, weight loss, abdominal pain, exhaustion and rectal bleeding. I underwent a virtual colonoscopy which has just been confirmed as normal by the consultant's secretary (waiting to receive letter). My questions is does the virtual colonoscopy show up all bowel disorders? The first virtual colonoscopy had to be cancelled as the bowel clear out didn't work! I can go weeks without a bowel movement. I am relieved in one way to find out it is negative, but on the other hand frustrated as I have all these symptoms but no diagnosis (as of yet!). Has anyone gone through this with similar symptoms and had further tests and finally a diagnosis? I'm unsure what to do.
I too am interested in any answers here. I have been told I have pelvic floor issues and that’s why I can’t eliminate without an enema. Had colonoscopy 6 months ago and was clear. I want my sphincter and rectum area looked at more closely to see if any growths or other problems there. There are other tests besides colonoscopies. MRI and many other tests that can be done. Research on line. Don’t give up.
It's very puzzling that you have all these unpleasant symptoms in your bowel yet the colonoscopy was clear, which must be a great relief to you. I assume that the consultant you saw was a gastroenterologist. (the spelling doesn't look right). I would have thought that the colonoscopy would have shown up any abnormalities. I had two colonoscopies (the first one my bowel prep. was poor) and they both showed up clear. Presumably your dietary habits have been assessed? As nancylynn says, don't give up. It might be IBS or colitis.
