Bowen treatment

I've just had my first Bowen treatment and found it very helpful. The therapist mentioned that there was research in 2012 that in summary said:

the cause of most autoimmune conditions is sub-clinical chronic infection, which can be successfully treated using Olmesartan Medoxomil

I've never heard this mentioned before.

Is Eileen out there?

Andy

I find this lister only as a blood-pressure medication.

Few side-effects, but how this would treat sub-clinical infection becomes the question(?).

I certainly would not rule out an infection of some sort, not necessarily contagious.  In fact I would be more surprised if there was no connection with some sort of disease-causing micro-organism.

Yep. The drug seems inappropriate. But my question is I suppose whether there is any evidence of there being a bacterial cause for PMR.

If their were a microbe/virus cause to pmr, how does the age factor come into the discussion?  Could it be that, past a certain age, that the immune system fails to rerspond to an infection the way that it does when our bodies are young?  Can hiding places develop within the body where pathogens can reside, insulated from the immune response?

Dan, we need Eileen!

From a healthline site: What Causes Polymyalgia Rheumatica  The cause of polymyalgia rheumatica isn’t known. However, it’s believed that certain genes and gene variations may increase your risk of developing polymyalgia rheumatica. Environmental factors may also play a role in the development of the disorder. New cases of polymyalgia rheumatic are often diagnosed in cycles and usually occur seasonally. This suggests that there may be an environmental trigger, such as a viral infection, that causes the condition. The rapid onset of symptoms also suggests that polymyalgia rheumatica may be caused by an infection. However, no such link has been found.

Other information given seems accurate including the assertion the disease may remit within up to six years.  Sorry I'm not Eileen but I'm sure she'll be along soon.  Maybe after she gets back from holiday?

Thanks Anhaga. I had various aches and pains for months which I put down to old age. When the pain was more defined: thighs and shoulders I was diagnosed by a locum, blood tested the same day and on steroids the day after. It had been lurking then revealed itself with a vengeance. My Mum and Dad had PMR and lived into their nineties and my sister has it too, so there is some anecdotal evidence of genetic link.

As far as I know I'm the only one with PMR, and an only child, but in one family of first cousins one woman has RA, another diagnosed with fibro, a man with osteoarthritis (which I also have) and another man with schizophrenia.  The only one in that family without something related to inflammatory and/or autoimmune disorders is the adopted brother!  Which does seem to point more to a genetic component than an infectious one, although perhaps those could be connected also. I did live with the family for about two years when I was very young.

Well, I can put paid to that theory, as I have been taking Olmesartan for around 15 years or more for blood pressure and I still developed PMR three years ago!!

I just looked up this drug and it only seems useful for chronic heart failure, high blood pressure, and something called nondiabetic proteinuric nephropathy, nothing to do with subclinical chronic infection and PMR.

Heavens guys - give me a chance! Patient hangs onto my notifications for some hours (don't know what it has against me) and there is a time difference and I'm enjoying myself on Lake Garda! I'd have been here earlier but there was a very wet thunderstorm...

Right, I can't give you the direct link without it going for moderation but google sciencebasedmedicine and the Marshall protocol to find a detailed explanation of why it's very likely bunkum...

I did suspect that might be the sort of field when I read your question. I have by the way also read some of the Marshall Protocol bumpf - but when SBM has written it why should I repeat it.

Yes it goes for moderation for the reason you said in first post  - bunkum. Link is below.

Can't I have my post back for the personal message

Hi Eileen,

Of course I've edited it back into above.

Alan

Ta muchly!

It really makes me wonder! I had food poisoning 8 days prior to PMR and was in an extremely stressful situation at same time. Extremely.

something obviously made my body say, no! You'll not move well again for quite a while.   But heck body...I'm ready to move easily now ok?

I didn't think my post would be deleted when I clearly said unmentionable was controversial and in no way promoted it - it was mentioned because it had relevance to the topic at hand although 24 hours later I've no recollection of the context.  I thought it would be moderated and then allowed.

can you elaborate more on how it is helping you?

I`m jealous you`re at Lake Garda...my all time favourite place.....
