I have been taking Finasteride for about ten months and developed a really bad rash, hives and body itching. When I discontinued taking this medication for one month, it all cleared up. Has anyone ever had a similar experience.
I've been on it for a year. No side effects like the ones you mentioned. I did develope anlergy like yours to doxycyclene when I had Lyme disease
I did but not with finasteride. I had that same reaction happen to me with celebrex. Was fine with it for 2 years. But didn't take it every day. Only as needed. One day I took it and had that reaction on my legs. Thought it was my wife changing laundry detergent. Found out she didnt. Never put two and two together.3 days later I took it and had a full blown reaction. When I was prescribed flomax and finasteride I was warned to watch for the same reaction cause they share some of the same ingredients as celebrex. I never had a allergic reaction to anything so I had no clue that's what was going on.

that text was for finasteride, and I meant to send it directly to Brown.
yes - I thought it was nasty stuff - and it didn't work!
You are wasting your time with meds for BPH. They won't do much for the prostate but cause other problems. No one has ever been cured of BPH by taking meds or herbals.
Thanks so much ! I started seeing a Dermatologist who treated me with Ketoconazole cream, Triamcinolone cream and all kinds of stuff, but nothing worked. So I started a slow process of eliminating my medications. When I stopped taking Finasteride it slowly went away. My body is still all marked up, but at least the itching is gone.
I think most men take meds in hopes of delaying surgery in hopes of better procedure coming along.
Finasteride stays in your system a long time. It's one of those drugs takes a long time to work, long time to get out of your system. Doc told me that cause I asked if it was one I could just stop, or I had to taper off.
Thanks. To be honest, I don't really know if the Finasteride cause the hives and itching, that's why I wanted to know if others had similar experience. I am going to start taking it again to see what happens. I'll be seeing my Urologist next month. You're right about it staying in your system for a while. It took about six months for it to start working for me.

Yes, my BPH improved after about seven months of continuous use. I was making four trips at night and was down to about one night trip. I was on Uroxatral and Finasteride. Tamsulosin replaced Uroxtral. So I was on both those medications. I also added Saw Palmetto 500mg twice a day. It all worked great after about one year. Now, I am trying to find out if Finasteride is causing these nasty hives and itching.
You are so right. I am hoping for better treatment options.
Long term use, I am beginning to believe you're right.
Finasteride caused hives, itching and breathin problems for me.
