BPH

Has anyone had bloody urine just from having BPH? I've got an appointment with the urologist tomorrow and I'm terrified. I was told I had BPH by my GP but I didn't know that could be accompanied by bloody urine.

Ingram,

It’s happened to me before - particularly after exertion. My urologist told me that just a few drops can make your pee completely red - that helped me not worry as much. Good idea to get checked out, though.

Best of luck!

Been there. My blood show was after the urine stream. If your urine flow is not adversely affected the urologist may put you on proscar to reduce the prostate.
You may be able to live with this for a long time.

For me, BPH led to bladder stones which caused blood in my urine. Maybe this is your issue, too. If so, they can remove the stones (no big deal), but you would then need to most likely do something about the BPH to prevent a recurrence. I chose Rezum two years ago and there has been no blood since.

Good luck!

By the time you see the uro the blood should be gone.

Struggling with BPH for about 5 years now, and once during those years, I had a massive amount of blood in the urine (twice in one night). I see 3 urologists; one said it’s impossible for BPH alone to cause blood in the urine, the other 2 say it is possible. Multiple tests, including urine analysis, ultrasound, and cystoscopy showed no other cause (the uro who did the cystoscopy said the blood was just caused by a “big, juicy prostate”). Bottom line in my opinion, is that urologists are mostly clueless.

Just like ever other profession: They did not all graduate at the top of their class.
