Bppv or not to be ?

Hi Guys

What's your thoughts on this ... Spoke to the doc and seems to think my symtoms are no longer bppv or lab I have listed my symptoms below I know u are pretty good at this type of thing !

Dizzy spells are few and far between

Slightly slow and blurred vision

When I have been on computer or attempted a day a work it feels like I am walking on air/space

Also get a very short 2 second twist (like some thing happens in my brain) only lasts a second or so but make me jump,I remember this

happening many years ago when I was driving very strange if this was lab or bppv ?

Well firstly,y I would want to know why your Dr has changed his mind?Did he say.  what kind, of Dr is he, just a GP? Trouble,is with your symptoms descriptions they are similar to so many conditions, and you really need to be seeing a proper consultant who, specialises in vestibular problems.

I totally agree with you. I would be insisting on knowing what the doctor now thinks it is and also asking to see a specialist neurologist. I don't know where Keith, or yourself are based but there must be specialists around who deal with vestibular disorders. Christine

Hi Gillian yes just go I have just called at got a cancelation appointment with neurology today so will see what she says hope she can shed some light

That sounds more like it., Is she just a regular neurologist,,or a neuro Otologist?

Just general I think but must be better than gp!

Yes will be better than gp.  However don,t be too hopeful as whe. I saw a normal neurologist they were all very nice but they do not seem to know much about the Vestibularsystem.  Once you,ve seen them if they don,R come up with much . Ask to,see the n.otologist okay?

Do you get onesided headaches too? Migraines at all ever?

Just out from seeing neurologist she doesn't think it's bppv or lab she thinks it's a silent migraine with vertigo ... Got some tablets ( Amitriptyline

Have you ever suffered from migraines at all in the past Keith?

Interesting - the neuro thinks I have migraines and occipital neuralgia (aggravated nerve possibly due to neck problem - awaiting neck ct scan.) I tried amitrip but settled on topiramate for migs (got silent ones too - without the pain but all the lightheadedness etc) helped abit but got bad again over xmas so maybe it's the neuralgia for me now - I hate the dizziness most - arghh it's never ending!!

No but did get a lot of stress around that time at work

I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is migraine it would make sense as I got a lot of pressure and stress at work around that time

when I saw an audiologist he tried saying I had silent migraines, but he said it would only be the case if I had suffered from them in the past.  I used to get bad headaches, but would not say  migraine as such. I could  not tolerate the Amiltryptline anyway, so along with the physio. That accompanied it didn.t help either,,so that was a year wasted!

Yes me too as a primary school teacher in a challenging school with 30 children in class every day. Migraines can cause all sorts of very strange symptoms and can be quite unnerving and frustrating sometimes.
