Hi guys! I'm 16 years old and suffer from really bad anxiety. I've always been scared of having a brain tumour since I was 14 years old. Sometimes, I'm convinced I have it and sometimes I'm not. In July of 2019, there was a part of the upper right side of my head that hurt on the INSIDe if i touched it hard. This occasional happened and came back in December and I got scared again. Today, I was bending my head and there was so much pressure in my head and the same exact part of the upper right side of my head started to hurt (in one pinpointed location). When i stood up and touched that area, the inside of my head started to hurt. After a minute, the pain was gone. However, I'm so scared that I have a brain tumor:( Also, sometimes when i turn my head, I get random head pressures.
anxiety tends to cause people to have very negative and fearful thoughts. I really doubt you have a brain tumor. if you’ve been worried for two years about this, you would have been very sick by now if this was true. Anxiety can cause all sorts of symptoms including pressure in the head which I’ve had for a long time, soreness , headaches, etc. There are other symptoms associated with having a brain tumor that you did not mention. That’s a good thing!
if you are really concerned you can always visit the doctor. You could see if your parents could get you an appointment. However, keep in mind that anxiety can produce your symptoms .
see if you can relax your mind and stay busy . if your anxiety is causing you too much stress, visiting a therapist can really be helpful! Talk to your parents about this. Anxiety is hard to deal with all alone. Therapist can give you some ideas on how to get in better control so that you don’t have to live feeling anxious all the time. You’re going to be OK! ![]()
can you get your parents to get your doctor to set up an MRI? this way you will know for sure whether you have a brain tumor or not. knowing for sure may ease your anxiety. also, do you have sinus problems or allergies? do you spend a lot of time in front of a computer or on your phone? this too can cause pressure in your head. personally i think you are way too young to be worrying about stuff like this. you have a ling life ahead of you and its going to be a rollercoaster ride, some good, some bad, but worth the ride. do you have a therapist or someone you can talk too about your anxiety and worries? if not, have your parents find someone for you. did you suffer a traumatic event when you were younger? i am wondering if perhaps you have a form of PTSD. but all that aside, get an MRI and find out for sure about the tumour. i am sure its nothing to worry about and you are fine, but be on the safe side.
Hi! Thank you for your response! Sometimes I feel like its anxiety and sometimes I get so anxious that I convince myself its not. I really hope I can go to the doctor soon after quarantine is over, but I don’t know yet. Also, my doctor said I should go to a therapist, so hopefully that works out too!
Thank you for replying! I hope to go to the doctor, but my parents think I’m fine and think I’m worrying for no reason. Also, I have a few sinus issues and allergies, so it could be that. I haven’t had huge traumatic experiences, but there have been some very stressful situations that just made my anxiety skyrocket over the past two years. I hope to get this sorted out, but thanks!
hard to reply because you are still in your parents care and i am guessing probably cover your insurance costs for going to the doctor. but if you feel that strongly that in may be a brain tumour, as a parent myself, i would make sure you got an MRI just to be sure. did they say why they think you are fine? i mean you sound distressed. in any event, when you see the doctor you should be able to relay your concerns to him and get some results. maybe he/she can talk your parents into the proper coarse of action for your particular issues. i am sorry i could not be of more help. take care.
