Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion

Does anyone have or know of someone who has BRVO (Branch Retinal Vein Occlusio) if so how long have u or they have had it

I'm taking monthly eye injections but all it does is keeps the swelling down but my central vision is badly distorted..I'm afraid my other eye will get it to..I just want to know if anyone has gone blind from this .

Please answer cause I really need a peace of mind about this..Thank u all & God Bless!

I have had BRVO for 3 yearsin my right eye, and the only thing that is finally making an improvement are the Avastin injections given every month.I have tried the Lucentis, Eyelea and the steroid injections withour any success.

My ophthalmologist has also started me on eye drops to reduce pressure in the eye, as a preventatinv measure. Galucoma is one of the adverse events linked to long term Avastin injections. I am hopeful that the swelling will decrease eventually. The left eye is OK and I hope that the monthly monitoring will keep it safe.

My doctor tells me that she has not manys patients deteriorate to blindness. I hope that helps.  I am keeping a very  close eye on my blood pressure as well.

I was diagnosed with this about a year ago in my right eye, it came on just like that! They still haven't fully figured out why. My cholesterol, though not low was not very high, I've never smoked, my blood pressure is and always has been great. As a result I've a blind spot in my right eye that's a wee bit shaped like Italy.  I was put on a statin for my cholesterol and as s preventative measure, and Clopidogrel to prevent clotting and it reoccurring.

1 year on the clots gone but the vein is sill damaged, though slightly better. My vision is also a bit better, but not majorly and it may never fully recover, I've come to accept that as my left eye has compensated and I don't even notice it now with both my eyes open. However it's certainly not gotten worse. That's the main thing

Hi ,I saw your post and that you wrote it 3 months ago ,I had a BRVO one year ago and now have significant macular oedema. The Doctor had said I could have laser to middle of my eye and not have injections but will be left with a  big black spot .

or peripheral laser and injections together .He said between 3 and 13 injections .

I am so scared of having injection I am just beside myself ,I just dont know what to do.Would like to hear how you are getting on now ,  Regards Joan.

Hi Joan, I'm am doing very good. This coming march will be one year. I have been taking injections all this time and also have macular swelling as well.. The good thing is it is stable and notnot has gotten worse. I also have had laser and it did nothing for me.. I also had a steroid pellet injected and also did nothing for me.. I do have that same blurr spot in my central vision, but thank God iti hasn't gotten worse.. The injections are not really that bad at all. My Doctor numbs me pretty good & it helps keep the swelling down for the month..I hope I was able to help you some..God Bless & Keep Your Faith Strong in God!!

Thanks for that, Charlene, as I am seeing the specialist (Retinal Eye Surgeon) tomorrow.  I am stabilizing my blood pressure and hope that helps.  Faith is conforting.
