This is for all the ladies out there. Every time I have my mammogram I am always told I have dense breast. This concerns me because I read that women who have this are more likely to develop breast cancer. You can't have an MRI unless you have a strong history of breast cancer. Anyone here ever faced this issue.
I have not personally experienced this, but I would say it’s along the same lines of being told you have a higher risk of breast cancer bc it runs in your family. It doesn’t mean you will definitely get breast cancer one day, it just means you have slightly higher chance than others. Having a dense breast is actually probably less of a chance comp to someone with a family history. But obv it’s still a very scary thing to hear, but you can’t let what ifs throw you into a muck! If you start worrying about all the things that could happen to you one day, you will be a wreck and ridden with health anxiety. And trust me, it is no fun being that way! lol
Thanks Philly…Of course I googled all this info. Don’t have a strong family history of breast cancer. My mom had BC at a very late age and was told it was not hereditary but I guess you never know. Just so dam scary.
- Of course yeah, it’s still scary to hear anything like that - that’s understandable. But it definitely sounds like an if to me, not a when. So then you shouldn’t get yourself all worked up over an if =) Try and relax, go for your yearly tests and what not and u will be fine.
- Not that this helps much but, breast cancer is like a 90% success rate nowadays, it’s not like it used to be. I know that doesn’t help much but just think of it as, it’s not like one of those omg you have it, your dead things anymore lol. I know 3 different women who had it and recovered and are totally fine now. But again, that doesn’t mean you would even ever get it! You probably never will have it so don’t worry =)
Hi Philly…I just got a call from where I got my mammogram done. I am a mess!!! They found calcium deposits and I need to go back for some more images. And one film was blurry. My anxiety is so high!! I do take ativan…will need to take some. Such a pain in the neck!!
Calcium deposits are very common! My mom had one on her hand last year, it was the size of a marble. She got very nervous abt what it was n went to the Dr. They told her it was just a calcium deposit and would disappear eventually. They were right bc about a year later it was gone! Don’t worry - calcium deposits are normal and nothing scary.
My neighbor works in mammography and she told me anytime there are changes in the breast tissue they need to check it out. So I go on Tues. until then I feel so numb and already have my self dead!!! I hate these dam boobs. Thanks for all your replies and hopefully things will turn out ok. Positive thinking is a very hard thing to do.
It definitely isn’t easy, our minds always tend to worry and think the worst =/ But our bodies change all the time, weird things come and go. I’m sure this is nothing and u will be fine!
Thanks again Philly!! ![]()
