Breast issues in Peri? Sore, tender, full, lumpy breast tissue...

Hi ladies. A few months back I had an issue where my breasts were feeling swollen, heavy, full, seemed irritated and itchy, and had a weird leaking sensation throughout the day (with nothing there). I sought out a diagnostic mammogram at that time, which was fine. Currently, I am having soreness, tenderness, and lumpiness in my breasts. The soreness/lumpiness/tenderness seems to be more so on my left, especially in the breast area next to the axilla and slightly up into the axilla. I don’t feel anything rock hard or irregularly shaped ( just palpable), but then again I always second-guess what it is I’m supposed to be feeling. The lumps are tender to the touch and it feels like the muscle area is, also, tender. I'm 44 and had a partial hysterectomy (still have ovaries) two years ago, so trying to link it up hormonally without cycles is near impossible. I had my diagnostic mammogram with US 3 months ago and as mentioned, was normal. Of course, I have dense breast tissue, so thats always a concern about accuracy. As a check in with these new issues, I had my doctor order an ultrasound of my left axilla along with a complete ultrasound of my left breast. They ordered another mammogram (despite not feeling anything upon exam in the office), but I preferred to stave off the radiation until I can see if it’s needed. I'm thinking I may be in perimenopause, Anyone experience this with perimenopause?

I have dense breasts with fibrocysts. When my periods started changing I became very estrogen dominant and my cysts got huge and painful. I had mammo, u/s and breast MRi. If you are worried but dont want another mammo then why not do the MRI for peace of mind?

Yes mine are usually swollen, full, lumpy around my period. I too have that leaky sensation that reminds me of my breastfeeding days. Sometimes I get heart palps which makes my left breast feel wonky. I think this is normal but am due for my mammo in 2 months.

I may request to do that. Not sure if my insurance will pay for it though…
