Hi Derek I do get shortness of breath, and I have had tightness in my chest.its never happened if Ive been in our car. when it happens to me I just sit still rest till it eases off, It never seem to last for very long, well it hasnt up to now thankfully. take care
the last time i went on a bus i passed out cause i could not breath but i always get it in the car x
I know you said your gps arnt good, but I think you should have a word with them about it just to be on the safe side. take care
i will try its all i can do but he just donsnt listen but i will take my wife up there and record the conversation x
Thats a good idea My husband always comes in with me when I go to see a dr and vice versa, 2 ears are better than 1 it helps to have that extra support
it does but to be honest i wish my doctor would just listen and if he did not know much about how im feeling and whats going on with me then at least he could do is send me to someone who knows what there talking about x
Hi, Derek....I also have the breathing problem with anxiety, and getting in the car to go somewhere really starts it off....what I do is, summer and winter, run the air conditioner straight into my nose and breathe deep breaths...in and out...hold breath for 10 second, let it out slowly...when you feel better turn the air off if you like...I know this really helps the dizzy spells and the breathing....I hope this helps...
he should be trying to educate himself about fibro and finding out all about it. or he could refer you to apain clinic or back to the rheumatologist their options he could choose he should be trying to help you drs have a duty of care.
I get this to wither I'm sitting in the driver seat or passenger.. actually worse in the passenger seat because my arms are down as apposed to up on the steering wheel opening my chest...the gravity and wieght on the spine is less. It is something I have grappled with for a while.. It is worse when I am also tired... I get it even sitting in my chair or on the couch... Being over tired or the onslaught of a tiring bout....
thats what i get but i dont drive but the wife does i just hold on to her seat as i sit behind her but i cant use bussed cause the last time i was on 1 i passed out cause i could not breath
exactly i will do that and will get my wife to make sure he referes me to a pain clinic and doesnt fob me off as usual x
i use ventolin and have the car window fully open for a few seconds that helps but for me the big issue is the tightness in my chest then i get chest pain (costocondritis) and i honestly cant handle that any tips on handling that would be great x
The key is to NOT stress about it as it makes your mind over matter worse. I cannot stand the seat belt over my chest or up near my neck. Psychologically does me in...the pressure feeling get me and it aggrivates the heck out of me. I slip the belt down under my arm now.
I rarely drive now, but when I do it's a loaner car, or I am a passenger in a friends car.
The key for me is to sit up straight. These modern Racaro seats have that concave feature and for me it rolls my shoulders forward and so does the dam headrests... I cannot sit in that position of head down forward, and shoulders rolled. I have to sit bolt upright and shoulders straight, as I do have a good T shape frame and it's of course natural to sit straight.
Use cushions or a pillow if need be to support your back and keep you straight. Use something like a box that is high beside you to rest your elbow on at just under elbow or between elbow and shoulder hieght. It helps to open up the rib cage... Put your other arm up on the armrest.... It's a matter of finding that comfortable, and more relaxed position without stress, and then breathing should only be from the bottom of your lungs...NOT the top 2 or 3 inches.... To easy to fall into bad breathing habits.. There are folk out there that can teach you to Breath properly, it is a common problem with folk to lazy breathe and even Sports folk undertake to learn better breathing techniques.
Being tired as I said and feeling the heaviness in back and chest can make us focus on bad breathing or not being able to take a good deep breath without forcing ourselves to yawn instead.... If your gettng like that, you need to go to bed and get a good night or days rest and sleep!
thats the trouble i cant sleep due to pain and mt doctor does not know what the cause of my yinsomnia is and i went to see a specialist and hes not shure as well as it seems to be commen with fibro sufferers but i live in hope that 1 day i will be able to get a proper sleep
Honestly the best way I found for me, and there are other Fibro sufferers in NZ who resorted to the same thing and that is to take Half a sleeping tablet.. No you won't get hooked on them unless your a person who has addiction problems. I only take half, some folk to a whole. It is enough for me to get sleepy and fall off to sleep, waking up feeling a lot better mentally and phyically for having a good sleep. The body Loves a good rested sleep time... believe me. I don't use sleeping tablets every night, only when the need to let the body and mind have a break and the want/need of a good restful sleep.
Absolutely nothing wrong with sleeping tablets.. AND you will find your breathing issues will improve! Because you've allowed your body to sleep perfectly rested..
i have tried them and i just cant sleep until i pass out due to physical and mental exhaustion and sometimes severe pain
Hello again , just replied to you about sleepless nights, I have to admit I have had shortness of breath and tightness but I felt anxious about going out and traveling to work on the bus as i cant drive for now as I have seizures. I wasnt worried for myself just how people react if I were to have one on the bus. before i put two and two together i used to treat myself with indegestion tablets or a herbal chewing sweet. Is it just in your car or do you get this feeling at other times? and does it go away after a while?.
you will have to insist that he sends you to a pain clinic dont back down. being refered to apain clinic is part of fibro treatment that along with cbt hydrotherapy and accupuncture hope you finally get some where when you see him?
if i get it on a bus i feel like i just cant breath maybe due to the uncomfortable seat and the tightness of my chest and the last time i went on a bus i passed out it does only ease in a car but not on a bus
