Hi haven't been on for a while but a question for all you lovely ladies out there, do any of you get short of breath with the menopause? Xx
Hi Karen.
I'm going through perimenopause and I get shortness of breath often.
I have an inhaler which I take as and when needed for this
Never experienced this before until perimenopause cane along .
Can be frightening at times but try to reassure myself it's hormones.
Hope you're ok x
Thanks dora for replying. Yes I have inhalers to blue and brown as I was diagnosed with asthma last year with was brought on by menopause. It's a living nightmare. Take care xx
Absolutely. Its one of my more hated symptoms. I seem to be likd it for weeks and then it just goes away again, only to return. Seems fairly common.
hi yes i get this to all the time just walking up stairs im out of breath when i walk to school its on a hill im out of breath i feel so unfit i never was like this i thought it was so ething else causing this hope it is just meno doing it and it gets better
Was one of my first symptoms. It was scary. I don’t get that shortness of breath anymore but now and then it still hurts in my back and it feels hard to breathe. That’s a different feeling.
It's horrible. I keep thinking there's something more serious xx
Hi it's a nightmare xx
Hi Suzanne it's worst when it's hot and there's no air xx
I convinced myself it was lung cancer. I had lung function tests bloods and chest xrays. Nothing found. That was 5 years ago now and Im still here. It comes and goes so I just have too chalk it up as another awful peri symptom.xx
Mine just comes at random times. But in the last year it always coincides with burning feet. So it’s def related.
I was convinced I had lung cancer too. No evidence with all the tests. Now I’m on to uterine cancer because of the thickened lining they found. Oh, and after reading about colon cancer last night, I could have that too. Enough to drive one totally mad.
Oh youre not alone....I had a colonoscopy about 4 years ago convinced I had bowel cancer...its always one fear after another. At the moment mine in cervical cancer fear. I havent had my smear results back snd its been 3 weeks so must ge bad news...well, thats what my health anxiety tells me x
Omg!!!
I have this awful symptom
I’ve been in peri ten years
Currently 10 months no period
But went 13 last year so nothing surprises me anymore
I’ve had this on and off in peri
Had chest X-ray heart monitor and bloods
Always normal
But lately this is happening every day
I’m even scared to get out of bed and go to work these days
I constantly want to run to the doctor have to stop myself
I too keep thinking it’s my lungs or some disease
This is my 11th year if suffering every symptom in the book
I also get extreme bloating and acid reflux when this happens
So I do think maybe it’s my gerd playing up causing the right chest feeling and short of breath
I cry most days now
I’ve had one period in nearly two years so I can only pray I’m at the worst
The anxiety is just horrendous my mood swings and hot sweats are through the roof
I’m not in HRT but was on an antidepressant for a year for the anxiety
I’m no longer on it
I’m not ruling out going back on it either
I’m 51 this September and I’ve been suffering since 40
My heart goes out to all of you it’s really hard to put all these symptoms down to menopause when secretly you think ur dying
Can’t iffer much advice as to what to do other than take one day at a time read the bible and read positive thinking books x
Hi yes its a walking nightmare xx
Nothing worse than health anxiety suffered with it for 20 years now xx
Yes, I get this as well. It seems to occur in the evenings and strangely enough when I’m eating supper. It’s like I have to take deep breaths just to get in enough air. It will occur for about an hour and then will go away. This has been happening almost every evening for the past week. I’m not worried about it because I had this same thing happen about two years ago and it lasted several months and then it went away until now. Chest x-rays were normal and my heart tests all normal. Also sometimes I will have a day or two where I get short of breath when I exert myself and then all becomes normal again.
When I got my smear results back I was so relieved, my husband asked why I was so stressed about it, he just doesn’t understand.
Why do we do this to ourselves?
My friend has two solid masses in her breast and she’s going to a surgeon for biopsies. I’d be freaking out! She’s totally calm and fine with it!
Maybe people like us will never get anything because we are always expecting something? Oy
Hi Michelle never thought of putting it down to my acid reflux but yet you could be right. I've also had every symptom going for over 3 years. I'm on hrt patches low dose it dose help a little xx
Yes, I went through this for a short time off and on. I was weird, it wasn't exactly like I was out of breath, it was like I couldn't get enough breath in my lungs sometimes. It eventually went away. Every time I went to the doctor for my physical the oxygen level in my blood was good and my lungs were fine. This is some crazy stuff!
