Breathing

Hi ladies does anyone have breatjing problems due to menapause. I do suffer with health anxiety and have also got asthma. But im conscious of my breathing all tje tome. Pkease anyone one else out there the same xx

Hi Karen,  yes, this happens to me.  I never realized until recently that i tend to hold my breath when I’m anxious.  So instead of taking proper consistent breathes, i would take delayed long ones.  Hyper ventilating.  Also, i was a chest breather.  Never realized it!  Belly breathing is the correct way.  I trained myself to be more aware.  When i lay down, i put a napkin on my stomach and make sure it’s moving up and down...Silly, but it works!  I also take a low dose AD to help manage my anxiety.  That has calmed my heart down, hence calming my breathing.  Also, listening to guided meditations or books on tape help at night before bed.

You have breathing isuues already with asthma, so you should definitely mention it to your dr.  But, it’s probably just lovely anxiety.  Take good care!  😊

Hi lou thanks for replying ive jyst cpme off a course of steroids for my asthma and still taking anti biotics for chest infection but i do tjink im over thinking things again as i know my breatjing is better than ehat it was. I just get so worked up with myself and needed reasussing lol xx

Hi Karen - Yes, I have allergy induced asthma & I also have suffered with bouts of shortness of breath which I attribute to falling hormones.  The shortness of breath I experienced from what I believe to be falling hormones is slightly different than a wheezy asthma attack.  When I first experienced it I went to my allergy dr & she did say that she she’s an increase in woman coming in during Peri & menopause.  I also suffer from anxiety, so the shortness of breath thing really ramps up the anxiety.  Knowing you have the proper RX’s on hand and deep breathing & realizing it is also hormonal should help you overcome it.  I know how scary it is, but you will get thru it -
