I broke my ankle and tibia 7 months ago. I was non weight bearing and in a boot for 4 months then partial weightbearing and now full weight bearing. I have Been doing ok my physio is happy with my progress. I went from a walking frame to crutches and now am being moved to one crutch. However my physio is stopping soon and I still have concerns. I still have pain although I only take one painkiller per day now. My ankle swells if I try to walk longer distances. I still can’t fit my foot into a normal shoe which sounds trivial but winter is coming soon and all I can wear is canvas, stretch shoe on it comfortably. I am trying to build my walking every day. I walk every day even if a small walk. I desperately want to get on a bus which is my normality for travelling but have not been able to achieve it yet due to worrying about the step up and down. I just wondered if anyone else was at this stage and how they get on and any advice. I feel that once physio ends I will be completely alone and am beginning to worry my ankle won’t return to normal and i will be left with mobility issues.. Any advice welcome. Thank you.
