broken ankle (Fibula?)

My husband broke his left ankle last Thursday and is wearing a boot, and it keeping it elevated but when he puts his foot down any time (to go use the restroom ect.) he says his foot really starts hurting immediately, is that normal?

Yes, I've a triple ankle break.

For the first couple of weeks it hurt when I put my foot down and felt really heavy.

Give it time, it will pass
