I had a nondisplaced spiral fibula fracture. The doctor put me in a cast for 6 weeks. I'm at week 5. I don't know if it's because it's getting more real that my cast is coming off but I'm getting nervous it's not healed. I'm 31 years old and put no weight on it. What are the odds it won't be healed?
I'm 10 was post op today. 2 plates and 12 pins in right ankle. Wore a cast for 3 wks non weight bearing followed by a walking cast/boot for 3 weeks partial weight bearing. At My 6 wk appointment doc told me he expected me to be in a shoe in 2 wks time and to try to achieve full weight bearing. Was absolutely terrified that my ankle wouldn't be healed in that time as it was such a bad break but it was. I think it's natural to be worried. I was terrified. I hope ur ankle has healed and Good luck with ur recovery.
No problems . You will weight bearing next week but supported by crutches. Swelling still high and pain at 5. It will take another 6 weeks to get over the worst. You should be run in around this time next year. It's a long job but don't get disharted time is the healer. Regards Mr Ankle
I'm at almost week 7 since injury, week 5 post op for 3 pins, no plates.
My foot has remained swollen all of the time, but only mild pain so avoid paracetamol.
The hospital will re X-ray your ankle each appointment to assess the progress since your break, so don't worry.
They won't remove your cast if still not healed properly.
The chances are that it will be healed as you didn't put weight on it.
It is normal to feel anxious though, I'm partial weight bearing using a boot & crutches.
I hope you will have your cast removed and be placed for physio next week.
Good luck for a speedy recovery
