Broncheactesis

I have had broncheactesis for 14 years now and manage quite well with doing exercises to clear the gunk.  This year I now have to blow my nose quite often. At first I thought it was due to the hot weather we have had in London as it was so humid   However the weather is no longer hot and I continue with the nose blowing.  Does anyone  else suffer with this or is it a progression of broncheactesis?

Yep i have the same problem .

My specialist has put me on a nose spray called Dymista. He thinks the nasal problems are to do with the bx

and hopes by controlling one will help the other.

I don't know about a progression but sinus trouble and rhinitis (allergic runny nose) definitely go hand in hand with bronchiectasis. I have had Bx since babyhood and had sinus problems at the same time. I was under respiratory and ear nose and throat departments at the Children's Hospital. I have met other sufferers who agree with me that the sinus trouble is more of a nuisance than the bronchiectasis!

Me too.   Nose runs  especially hot humid weather

I used to have PND quite bad and was put on dymista nasal spray it's not so bad now, but because I have allergies against perfumes etc it's true that it can be more irritating than having BX, but all the problems I have tied in with it.

Thanks to all it’s good to know I’m not the only one with this. Says me reaching for another tissue

I've had lifelong (67 years) bronchiectasis and always suffered sinus problems.  I had a sinus wash followed by sinus op when I was 17, before a lower lobectomy.  Can't say it helped much, but had another wash/op in my 40s.  Still struggling with it though.  It used to collect at the back of my throat when sleeping and dry into a crusty piece which made me gag.  Since training myself to become a nose breather the crusty bits aren't as bad but the pnd continues.

My neti pot certainly helps clear out the tubes (it's surprising how much comes out) so I can breathe better, but I can't go anywhere without a supply of tissues.

Bronchiectasis/sinusitis has been the bane of my life!
