Hi i went to my doctors yesterday and he said i might have a little infection how long would the antibiotics take to kick in thank you
Hi Jayne, if your on amoxicillin I find it takes up to 5 days before you start to feel the benefit, all depends on how strong the infection is & how quickly your body responds to the antibiotics. I think that's why they give you a 2 weeks course to make sure the infection is cleared up. Good luck & hope you start to feel better soon :0)
It will certainly take a few days & as Dave says we are all different in the way our bodies respond. Hope you feel better soon. 😊
It does vary but in general if it is the right antibiotic for the bugs you are growing you should see a bit of an improvement in about 72 hours, although it will obviously take longer for you to feel what you consider you best.

Doc has put me on co trimoxazole a 10 day course hope fully i will feel better soon thank you very much for your comment take care x

For me it takes a couple of days then I start to feel better, slowly at first then after about five days much better. Of course it depends on how bad the infection is in the first place and if the antibiotic suits you and the infection. Hope you feel better soon.
Hi Jayne Good to hear you'r on antibiotics, they will soon kick in. I returned to see doctor on Tuesday, as it was a differnet doctor she gave me a repeat prescription for carbocisteine capsules which help to break up the mucas making it so much easier to do drainge excercies, in fact after 10 years of broncheactisis I feel this is the best medication I have had.
