Hi i am in 3rd week post op for excision of bone fragment and brostrum ligament repair.
toes above nose for two weeks, and bed ridden, had to go back for recast in first week as rubbing heel bad, six weeks no weight bearing. Couldn't go into cast at two weeks due to swelling so straight into air cast, which is a nightmare, so uncomfortable at night, not sleeping. Does anyone know what is most important the position of ankle or lack of movement as wonder if there is an alternative to boot at night, as would really love some sleep
Hi i am in my 10th week after a brostrum ligament repair on my right ankle i had 6 weeks non weight baring in a cast then 3 weeks in a boot i am now just in an ankle brace and back to work partime having physio weekly i found sleeping on a really soft pillow (really soft ) under my ankle did the trick with it out of the duvet keeping it straight and not turning it hope this helps did think i would never get to where i am now but ankle really good now and no pain very happy with results
sorry forgot to say i took my aircast boot off at night couldnt sleep with it on
Hi good to hear you are progressing well, I have been told to sleep in the boot until six weeks because I couldn't have the cast, really looking forward to not wearing it .
what is your PT like? Bit of a downer today, have managed to strain a muscle in my shoulder making crutches even harder, feel like a real wimp
sorry to hear you have strained a muscle r u still non weight bearing? as you say forgot u r not in a cast so u must sleep in the boot i had many down days and if it wasnt for my family and friends would have gone nuts also had bruised arms and wrists were crutches rubbed really couldnt see an end to it all but as i say im driving and back to work you will get there i used to count the days till i could walk again must say best thing i ever did having the op my PT is coming along well they are really pleased with me does hurt a bit when i have to move ankle in different positions but all in all its ok keep your chin up
