Bump on my hip

Had THR on my right side 5 weeks ago, seems like things are going well. My surgeon has me on 6 weeks non baring weight on my new hip. It's hard since I'm a very active person, but doing my best. Good part is I have no more pain and feel like I could go for a run. Thing is last night when I was showering I notice that my right side has a bump right where my new hip is. Looked in the mirror and my right side sticks out more then left, doesn't really hurt but kind of weird that something is wrong. Is this normal??? Has anyone else have this happen to them or is it because of the non use of my right leg for these 5 weeks

I had my left hip done two months ago. No problems. But I also have a bump and I have put it down to swelling.

hi petro,

warm welcome to the hippies forum -

why are you not weight bearing yet? to my knowledge, straught forward hip replacement surgery one is weight bearing right away ...

Swelling and warmth around the scar are common after a hip replacement or hip resurfacing operation. Sometimes the whole leg may also swell on the operated leg. This represents the normal process of healing and can last for several weeks to months -

when do you have your follow up appointment?

please contact your doctor when the swelling gets painful and you have a fever ...

seems like you are doing great !!!!

big warm hug
