I’ve had a small lump (less than a centimetre) on the shaft of my penis, under the skin, for around a month.
It only appears after an erection/sex/masturbation, and gradually dissipates over the next hour or so. Sometimes it is more pronounced than at other times, and it only ever reappears after an erection. Early on this happened every time I had one, however this has become less so, however it always appears to some extent after sex/masturbation.
Does anyone have any idea of what this may be? It almost feels like a lymph node - it’s small, painless, hasn’t increased or decreased in size and I don’t have any other symptoms. As it is under the skin (near to the frenulum) you can’t really see it, but just feel it.
As it doesn’t stick around, I don’t feel I can really go to the doctors about it but, as someone who is prone to a spot of health anxiety, it is causing me a little bit of worry when I succumb to a round of Googling.
From what you are describing and given your comment on going to the doctors there is certainly nothing definitive going on fro you.
Unfortunately, I think it is one of those situation where unless it becomes much worse than it is now, and becomes a permanent presence then I doubt whether there is much you can do about this
To close the loop on this somewhat, in case anyone has anything similar.
After a few days of Googling similar issues (a small ball like lump just under the frenulum but to the left (from my perspective), almost feels like a bead or similar, that goes away when flaccid after a few hours) I decided to contact the GP.
After a virtual appointment over the phone, I was told that it didn’t sound ‘serious or sinister’ but to come in for a physical check just to be sure.
Fast forward a few hours and the most awkward GP appointment of my life, the doctor actually found it difficult to even find the thing I was talking about, and when they did they described it was a one milimeter nodule that is most probably fiberous tissue, or a cyst, or something else that fills with fluid, however we could probably rule out anything serious like cancer due to its presentation.
Again, to be on the safe side they suggested a referral for a scan at a later date (not booked there and then but was told they would be in touch), but no real cause for alarm, just to check what might be going on.
As someone who suffers with health anxiety (but generally try ignore it), the onward referral still has my mind running through the various ‘what ifs’ - but having had my penis, testicles and groin felt for what seemed an eternity, I should probably realise if there was anything serious it would have been mentioned, and the GP wouldn’t have shown me out of the door with a vague date for a scan and a general ‘nothing to worry about’ summary.
You ever found out what it was or did it go away after all? I feel like I have the exact same thing, except it’s on the right side of the shaft. Bit worried and having some anxiety about it.
