I noticed this rash a year ago. it was very large. it's not itchy. only time it bothers me is when I used lube when I had sex or masturbated so I'm giving up the lube. I plan on going to to doctors but I'm feeling anxious about it. I started using african black soap to wash it and the skin got dry and a little flakey. this is from today. any idea what this may be?
Hi Gregory, if it’s been there a year, it’s unlikely to be an std but more of a skin disorder. Dermatitis/eczema and psoriasis are very common in the genital area. The main treatment are usually topical steroids/hydrocortisone and unperfumed moisturiser/petroleum jelly. You can ask your pharmacist for advices for something appropriate for the genital skin. I don’t know the type of soap you are using, make sure it contains no perfume/fragrance. Dove sensitive bar soap or Cetophile are good brands. It’s a good idea to ask for a professional opinion but you can try some ointments while waiting for your appointment.
