Burning and tingling pain in foot post op!

Hiya im new to this so was wondering if anyone can help as im abit worried! I had ankle ligament reconstruction a week ago. I havent got a cast just surgical plasters as it was key hole surgery. I have an aweful almost burning and tingerling and kind of numbing feeling on the front of my foot and toes. Its so sore to touch. Even a blanket brushing against it is uncomfy and every now n then i get aweful shooting pain there aswell. Is this normal? Please help :-(:-(:'(

Hi

I had this after mine, was a very long two weeks but when I had the stitches taken out I was told perfectly normal. Numbness went aroundc4 weeks. Still get tingling & burning if I have overdone it and I'm 10 weeks post op. Just keep wiggling those toes where possible

I had the brostrom procedure to repair ligaments and had a lot of tingling afterward. I didn't experience any burning or numbness. Anything that put any pressure on the foot hurt, like the blanket pushing the foot to one side. It was difficult to find a position on a pillow that was comfortable. Do you have pain meds?  Check with your surgeon to see if these symptoms are expected.

Thank you for ur reply. Yea iv got co codomol but only take one at a time as dont like how drowsey they make me feel. I will try get in touch with my surgoen and ask thank u for ur advice x

Thank u so much that is so reasuring. Im glad all went well for u x

I am 10 months out and still have the tingling. The burning has lessened, but I remember that pain like it was yesterday. Please ask your surgeon about complex regional pain syndrome to make sure this isn’t the issue. I’ve also read where ice - although important for you at this time - could make it worse. So ask the doc about how long to leave the ice on at a time. Good luck, and please let us know how the visit went!
