Hi - October 2020 I had a filling replaced that didn't feel right. Pain whenever I flossed between that tooth. Hard to see a dentist due to covid but finally dentist filed between the 2 teeth (they were too tight together. During this time my mouth and started to get this burning sensation that worsens throughout the day. It feels like I burnt my tongue on hot soup! Oddly enough it goes away if I am eating or chewing gum. I went recently for a teeth cleaning and explained the issue to my dentist and she sent me to a dental surgeon to see if there was a structural issue but he could not find anything wrong. I am 57 so he put it down to menopause. Is there anything I can take that will relieve these symptoms - cure it or does it go away with time? Really appreciate any replies from those experiencing or know someone who is. Never heard of this syndrome before. Thanks.
hi sue, i get this alot, i think its when hormones are fluctuating, its awful x
This is really awful - is there anything you have found that brings relief?
not really sue, i have gone on a low histamine diet, cut sugar and gluten, also plenty of water x
Dentist sent me to wellness centre for supplement Acide R Lipoique which I am giving a try.
oh please let me know how you get on x
will do - wellness center said to take the pills 3x daily for a month and I should see results in a week. He says 85% effective for most people and if this doesn't work he has a pepper rinse that is effective too. No harm in trying
are you in the uk? x
Totally understand
i have this burning sensation since march, so uncomfortable.
Nothing i do help, one day it is gone and then it comes back again.
Is there any color change of tongue?
no color change. my dentist sent me to a surgeon for exam to see if there was anything structurally going on. this is is annoying - do you think it eventually goes away?
Live in Canada but have a lot of family in UK
i have white on my tongue but think its from post nasal drip gerd and allergies (which i now have) its not thrush, been tested x
I've had this for 2 yrs now. It will go away when period starts then come back at ovulation. Mine is actually what they call geographical tongue. It gets red smooth spots that change locations, also burns, sometimes if I eat certain foods it gets real bad and affects my speech, then it will just go away, and come back. I'm used to it by now. It's one of my easier symptoms.
Hi Sue.An2
Yes, it is annoying. Totally agree.
I had it for more than 6 weeks every day since March.. one day it just disappeared. I was so happy but it came back.
For me, it comes and go now but not as annoying as the beginning, maybe getting used to it.
