Burning sensation - females only please

Hello ladies, I was hoping to get some feedback. After I have an outbreak, I have this awful burning sensation that lingers for weeks. The sensation is on the outside and inside. It starts at the end of the breakout and continues long after it heals. Do any of you experience this? Also, part of me has concern that I'm still highly contagious until the burning stops. I appreciate any feedback you can give me!

I get the burning too at times. Feels like the beginning of a uti. I take ibuprofen and it helps me

I just recovered from my first outbreak (lord, it was awful) and I get weird sensations too, they feel like this tingly-burning-itching sensation which lingers for a while. Then I got my period which explained all of those uncomfortable feelings I was having since periods aggracate them more (so I was told by my doctor). It's possible you can still be contagious even after you have an outbreak and recover from it because of asymptomatic shedding, so you never really know when you're contagious. I avoid all sexual activity until ALL symptoms dissappear (sores, burning, itching, tingles etc. the whole lot) and I feel like myself again.

Thank you for sharing your experience.  So sorry to hear it was a bad one.     I'm honestly really surprised that there is no cure for this yet.  I believe they have one in the works.  Let's hope they get on that!!

I have read about the shedding as well.  It sucks because basically at any point in time you can be contagious so you always have to be extra careful. It would be a million times easier if you were only contagious when you had an active outbreak .
