At the end of 2017 I got a burning sensation in my left breast. At the time I was living in spain and saw a doctor there and they said it was mastitis and gave me antibiotics. In feb 2018 I returned to the uk and saw another doctor and he said it was highly unlikely it was mastitis. I was due a mammogram in dec 2018 which came back all fine. On saturday I found a lump in my right breast,Monday afternoon I had an appointment at the doctors, she felt it and said she would refer me to the breast clinic. On tues morning the hospital rang with an appointment for next thurs 20th feb. Today I'm feeling the same burning sensation that I felt at the end of 2017 but in the right breast where I found the lump. My anxiety is very very bad at the best of times and now its completely shot and I'm worried sick!!!!! I'm 53 and been in told I'm in perimenopause. Has anyone else had anything like this?
I have this the week before my period. i turn 50 in 5 days, i still get periods. I take progesterone. the burning is fairly new symptom and seems to get worse. it wakes me up at night then goes away. i am going for my yearly check up and mammogram soon. perimenopause is so fun!!!
hi Bev - i am sorry for your Health Anxiety regarding your breast burning. i can only imagine you having scary thoughts, but if this eases your mind at all…i have had somewhat constant burning either in my upper back, nape of neck, chest, forearms, front of chins & tops of feet - it generally comes on in the middle of the night & seems to go away during the day, but right now i have it & its almost 5:00, so who knows. For me, it feels like a sunburn without the redness to the skin or even heat to the touch - i have been battling with this for 2 years & i get no answers from doctors & i have been to many - i just think our nervous system is very compromised during this time & anxiety & blood sugar issues dont help. as far as the lump, it is not uncommon for woman to develop cysts during this time - the 3 woman that i know that have had breast cancer had no symptoms at all, so try not to go to that dark place - also, i am 7 years post, but my bad symptoms ramped up 3 years ago, but i have been doing this peri/meno dance for 10 years - so over it! try & relax
The strange thing is that when I found the lump I had no pain even when the doctor was examining me and asked if it hurt it didnt but 2 days later I get the burning sensation.
It’s not a constant pain it just comes and goes but the lump is still there.
I have been keeping a note since August 2018 and in that time I have only had 9 periods I actually went 5 months straight without a period!!!
