I've been suffering at work with pains almost like a burning sensation at the front of my thigh on my operated leg ! I hope its just muscular ! Though don't really think I've overdone it , I have been using my exercise bike regularly . At 14 weeks post op I thought the stiffness and pain would be getting less now ?
Has anyone else experienced the same?
Also really concerned as flying in a couple of weeks and wondering how sitting is going to affect my leg now ??
Hi Alison
Yes I get that sensation on my operated leg and I am 8 weeks post op.
I do think it is just healing process because my consultant never said anything yesterday when he checked me out. Don't forget your scar may have healed but it can take a year or more for the inside to reach some sort of normality. If it gets worse or you don't think it feels right get it checked out.with your consultant.
Hi Alison sadly it seems we all get various aches. I am 12 weeks and the past two have had flu like symptoms in both legs, cleared up now and replaced with butt cheek pain no doubt tomorrow it will be something else. Taking the train from London Kings Cross to Inverness an 8 hour journey and hope to get some shut eye, plagued with insomnia since my joint issue began. Doc given me sleeping pills but not working think a general anaesthetic would be nice maybe the Scottish air and a wee drop of the special waters will work wonders. Away for a week
Wonder what pain we shall have tomorrow. It's a right pain in the butt xx
13 weeks and Yes I'm still getting discomfort. Both legs feel heavy and awkward but I do think that progress is slow and gradual. When I think back.......
I haven't had the burning recently but did have a while ago. I'm sure it's muscles mending.
I have a flight in a couple of weeks- it only a couple of hours so will just keep flexing my feet and look forward to sunshine and a nice holiday.
Hope it all goes well for you
Best wishes
Barbara xx
Thank you yes hope sunshine does it some good! Thanks x
Hi alison, For me my burning pain was from nerve damage. Regular pain meds fishy touch it. Gabapentin works wonders.
At first it felt a like bolt of lighting.most is gone now. Only get it if I over do it with Zumba and cardio in one day.I had it last night.that medicine takes the burning away.xxx
Hi Alison, I'm 9weeks post op, I get that burning & a cold feeling inside the operated thigh, it also goes down my leg. I've been so careful these last 9 weeks, this should really be my 13th week, suffered a dislocation at 4 weeks.
I had my 10 month old grandson all day today, I know I've over done it as I've got that burning feeling back, as Barbara said earlier about the muscle repairing, I think she may be right. I go back to see my surgeon on Monday & he's doing an X-ray so hopefully all will be ok.
I'll let you know how it goes. Hope yours settles down soon.
It probably is nothing. If you don't see the scar area inflamed than I wouldn't worry. t an 14 weeks post op. I had this redness hot and inflamed on my incision site. It was "Cellulitis" which would be unfortunate if it got to my new hip. They would have to remove the new joint and then clean it up before putting it back in!! So, Doctor didn't want that !! I was put on a very strong anti-biotic for over 12 weeks!!! I just have had the hose removed and will start a course of anti-biotics by mouth for two more weeks and next week I see my epidemiologis/ infectious disease Doc and he well give the final "All Clear"
I con't know if you can contract this disease so long after hip replacement. But, do be careful.
All the Best to you.
