Hi everyone, jusst a quick update, now 17 days out, and no pain, but ocassionally I get this burning pprickly feeling deep inside my wound area, I know it's not serious as I can weight bear, and walk fine, it kinda ffeels like something tearing inside, ice packs alway sort it out, has anyone else had this? last time it as itching, so I'm a bit confused, anyway it's sunny again here in Stirling , but i will be staying in untill this weird sensation goes away, ahh well no two opps. are the same I guess, hope you all have a great weekend,
I had my dressing off yesterday and have just had another visit from the district nurse. The area had become very sore. Almost like a stitch that was pulling flesh and really hurting. She said all was well but there would be stitches underneath the scar that were yet to dissolve. She said it might take a couple of months and it would be sore as the stitches tightened before finally giving way. Paracetamol and ibuprofen took the pain away.
Hope this helps but if you think it might br infected get it checked out
I don't think it's an infection as the wound is clean and no swelling, it just comes and goes, other than that I have usual post opp. stiffness, ibruprofen does help, it's just kinda of frightening as it feels like somethings tearing inside, so you are probably right it must be the inner tissue mending.
Hi Lynne, yes I also experienced this feeling during my early recovery weeks. I spoke with my surgeon about it and was advised that it was my muscles and nerves
healing from being pushed and pulled aside during the surgery. I am well out in my recovery, it will be 5 months tomorrow and that sensation went away around week 8. I have no problem now with that type of feeling, all gone.
Hi Lynne it may be nerves repairing as they get disturbed during the op. The sensations you describe do involve nerves. Though I am not a doctor! So if you are worried make a gp appointment. Wishing you all the best. It is a long road to full recovery so don't expect too much too soon.
Don't waste the weather sit outside enjoy the sun. Always lifts our spirits!
Hi and thanks to all of you, I really don't know how any of us would get through this trauma without this site and the lovely people here, I have rested while watching the VJ day memorial on tv, then I made a lasagne, and had a shower, sensation now gone , thanks again everyone,
I had sharp prickling sensations for some time but they did go. I can't remember exactly when but I don't have them at 3 months though there is still some soreness in my leg when I press the side just below tbelow and at the bottom of the scar and it's still too uncomfortable to lie on for more than an hour.
for some reason I feel this burning, nagging pain again underneath my scar .. I moved 2 weeks ago and since then have not only pain in my soon-to-be-operated left hip, but also on R THR -
I had that before and at that time it was the butt muscle and sticky scar tissue which were massaged by my PT ...
I am a little worried about this righ tnow - not sure if it is the hardware or something ....
No sun here in Holland since Friday, but rain, rain and thunderstorms and more rain ...
