I took a bus tour for 14 days after five months post op hip Thr. Not a good idea.We traveled 3986 miles.walked to visit the sites at least three to six miles a day. Oh of course it rained.
This was an American history tour. Went through 13 states and Washington D.C.
The seats were so close my knee touched the Back of the seat in front me. But if that person reclined that seat it put too much pressure on the hip.
The other problem the toilets in the hotels were lower than the tub. Darn, it was almost impossible to get up off it.Anyway if I had known all this I would have cancelled it.
One high light was visiting hersey chocolate factory.
I always wanted to go there.yumyum. Hopefully I can get some rest.No more getting up at5:30A.M. Then on the bus 12 to14 hours a day.
Hi wow that's an event and a half. I mean how did you felt during and after the trip.
My father is at Puerto Rico and wants me and wife to go out there I would dare. I am only 3 months post op and don't how my hip would react. Anyway, I hope you feel better.
Exactly...you'd expect to be ok at five months, but since none of us realise what the h.ll is going to hit us, it would be a big deal. I did a cruise at 10 weeks and made myself do steps between decks but the occupational therapist post surgery told me to take my toilet seat raise with me as well as my gripper and sock stretch gizmo. But I had to cancel all theatre tickets booked earlier in the year at the royal Shakespeare company wasting a load of money. Even now it's hard to sit through a play there and I have to get outta my seat and touch toes etc. my operated hip sticks out even in bed on my back. One gd thing is that cos I'd done yrs of yoga was able to go low on loo seat with no difficulty. Reads strange now all the folks in early stages not knowing what's hit them. I remember saying I was in shock and that's no exaggeration. I lived in DC for 8 yrs then New York. God knows what brought me back to blighty! Esp thus time of year cold and wet for 5months now. I'd like to do that tour while still upright as it were! Toilet seats are shrinking I've noticed ESP in new build houses. Yet butts are expanding!
Hi everyone, I'm in that early post-op phase and must admit reeling a bit from it all. Definitely had no idea what was to hit me so reading you saying this Gentilleschi is strangely reassuring....helps me not to feel such a baby, especially as I'm told I'm doing really well. If this is really well hate to think what it would be otherwise. At my lowest I fear I'll be permanently impaired, then think, well if I am I'll have to get used to it. Oh well...onwards I go. Thank you
If you do exactly what the doctor recommended and the physical therapist then i can say you are doing well. The 4 weeks are crucial to your recovery, they should have issued you a wedge and maybe you used a pillow between your legs to prevent crossing midline. Is a physical therapist visiting you at home?
