My wife has been on Butec 15 microgram patches for a few weeks for pain relief - she is waiting for a total shoulder replacement due to advanced osteoarthritis - after little result from NSAIDs, opioids et al. Every day she feels nausea symptoms in her lower jaw, has no appetite and suffers from frequent diarrhoea. Has anyone experienced similar? Oh, and she does get a tiny bit of relief from the nausea with prochlorperazine tablets which were prescribed along with the Butec, although they have a bad saccharine aftertaste and were only intended for use in the first few days.

I am on Transec. Buprenorphine patches 70 micrograms. I was also on prochlorperazine for the same symptoms. My doctor changed me to a drug called Stemetil 5mg and it has been wonderful, no more nausea and my appetite is fine now . Your wife could ask the doctor to try this, anything is worth a try when you are feeling so awful . xx
