I had a vaginal vault lift and a posterior fascial repair done 2 weeks ago. All has been going well (apart from ridiculously painful bowel movements so have upped movicol dosage), ie; no sign of infection or swelling but for the last few days I can hardly move for severe pain through my left buttock. It hurts to stand, walk and sit so I am laying on the bed most of the time. Dr has prescribed diazepan to relax muscles along with paracetamol and ibruprofen. I want morphine!! My pain threshold is normally really high but this is agony. Anyone else got the same and if so how are you dealing with it. Thanks everyobe.
Hi JoolsB, I am now nearly 8 weeks post op and I can assure you it does get better. The severe pain in your buttock is evidently normal. Why are we not warned of this I have no idea as it really is excruciating. I spent the best part of 10 days just laying on the bed as it was the only way to get respite from the pain. But it does get better and I now have no pain whatsoever. So hang on in there!
Thank you so much for your prompt reply. You have no idea how much you have cheered me up! I think we are discharged from hospital with no real information or help, I was told take paracetamol as you may have slight discomfort. Understatement of the century! Pleased you are on road to recovery.
So glad I cheered you up! This forum has helped me enormously this last few weeks so I am so pleased I have helped you. I was completely unprepared for how painful the recovery period has been but it has got better and I do not regret having the repair. Here's to a good recovery for you also. xx
