My c-Reactive protein went up to 9.2 which is slightly above upper normal value of 9. I am at 10.5 tapering to 10.25 slow method. I wonder if I should stay at this level for awhile longer before going down further. I have breathing issues from rotting leaves and I have Been put on a different inhaler. My allergy testing last week came back negative but my pulmonary doc said pred will make that inaccurate.
when I was first diagnosed with PMR my C-reactive protein was 111- the highest my rheumy had seen.
Any ideas?
I add that I am pretty comfortable and exercising more.
When I was diagnosed with PMR my C-reactive protein was 173.40 so be comforted that it goes higher. I was diagnosed a month ago and have had to increase my prednisone from 15 to 20 because my c-Reactive protein was 25.10, still not within normal. I certainly wouldn't taper any more. It seems that the slower you taper, the better the result.
Have it checked again and see if it is going up further - it is the trend that is most important rather than a single reading. CRP can increase with pulmonary inflammation (chest infection for example) and that could be what is going on. I wouldn't reduce any further until you know that though.
