Can a hot water bottle really do this?

Hi All I have a photo to share with you of my neck, just wondering if any of you can confirm that the long, hot water bottle I was using to ease my aching neck could've really caused this. Here's the photo.

I have to admit the hot water bottle was rather hot, and other than a thin, fabric cover the hot water bottle has, there was no other barrier and was applied to bare skin. My neck aches seem to have gone, but now I'm let with this marks, it also does feel like the back of my neck is very slightly sunburnt. Any comments on whether hot water bottles can actually cause this sort of damage would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Use cold compress followed by a moisturiser.

So it definitely looks like a hot water burn to you then?
