Hey, I first started on pregabalin 50mg 3 times day for anxiety and after 1 month I was doing well not perfect but well, about 4 weeks ago I was uped to 150mg twice a day and I feel that the last month has been more of a bumpy ride compared to when I was on a lower dose, could it be that the lower dose is what I need? Or building up a tolarence? Thanks
Hello Rhys, It's hard to say if you'd be better on a lower dose, everyone is different. All I know is that I had to build up slowly (25mg at a time up to 200mg daily), and if I have to reduce them, it's got to be the same, ie 25mg reduction at a time.
People have had some weird side effects on Pregabalin, but on the other hand, it helps with pain etc. I suppose if you feel you're not any better on a high dose, then there's not much point taking it? Is your GP any good?
I'm taking it for ME, not anxiety, so I can't really offer any help if you're feeling anxious. I've been on it for year and a half, and it definitely doesn't have the same effect any more, and if I try to increase it I get dizzy, disoriantated, and generally feel rotten. Does that sound like your symptoms? As an example, this is the 1st time I've been well enough to reply on this forum for a few weeks.
I suppose we've all just got to hang on in there!
Hey, ye my anxiety just seemed more stable at the lower dose , last few days I. Gotten really depressed don't know if that is because of the higher dose or not.
Rhys8300:
I still cannot believe on your side of the Atlantic that they use Lyrica for anxiety, so many better drugs that are virtually side-effect free, (i.e. Zoloft, Cymbalta, Abilify, etc.)
Have a talk with your doc, Lyrica is primarily a Anti-Convulsant/Neuropathic pain med, seems over in europe it's pushed as an anti-anxiety med.
Kinda strange, heavy doses of Lyrica can cause all kinds of side effects, I'd ask for a change.

Hey grey, you are correct in saying that as I was on citalopram for a year and it helped, but in saying that it gave me some unwanted sexual side effects so I don't really want to go any wear near ssris again
Vecta:
Right-o, those SSRI'S are total crushers on the libido/performance side. I chose between panic attacks or ED, and ED lost out, while I may no longer be johnny on the spot, it's nice night to wake up in terror every other night...good point though Vecta....
