So I have had bad reflux for about 6 months now and just had allergy testing done - I was told I had an allery to milk, eggs, and shrimp. I have milk all day long but nothing ever happens. However, I do have horrible indigestion all the time and reflux - could these things be related???
I like you lean on milk and drink it everyday. It's fantastic for treating acid reflux. I remember years ago I went to an allergist who pricked my upper arm with chocolate, dairy, and dust among other things. I remember he told me I was allergic to most of what they stuck me with. However, the only thing I have an issue with is dust. I choose not to eat chocolate and I have never noticed any issue with dairy. I think that it's possible that there are different degrees of being allergic.
Hiya. I don't know about allergies causing reflux but I have read about and from my own experience milk is not good for reflux. It's very soothing initially but as it takes a while to digest due to the fat content, you'll produce more acid to help digest it. I have it in drinks and on cereals but don't drink it like I used to. My reflux is caused by a hiatus hernia and I'm controlling mine really well by losing some weight with slimming world - that has very little milk and is low fat. So far so good !!
Yeah because I drink milk everyday and never have a problem, now all of a sudden they tell me I'm allergic...strange
