i have bad health anxiety and after years and years i just want to know can our anxiety really cause crazy symptoms ? also my health anxiety has been really bad lately please do you have any advice for me ?
Al,
Sadly yes. Health Anxiety does cause a lot of crazy symptoms that make you think you have some horrible terminal disease, though when you have your checks, the Drs tell you, everything is fine. If you haven’t I’d advice to get some psychological help via therapy and if that doesn’t help perhaps take medications to calm you down.
yes, anxiety can cause hundreds of different symptoms. When I was in my 20s, it all happened at once. I had about 10 different symptoms and thought I had something really serious. My arms and legs were buzzing, my ears were ringing, my head felt very weird and I was off-balance, floaters in my eyes, shortness of breath, Negative thinking caused by the anxiety, you name it. I was thoroughly checked out and all my test came back fine.
The nervous system seems to be affected the most by anxiety and stress. But those symptoms are not harmful.
That’s when I realized that since I was a child I had very high anxiety. The body can only take so much before it tells you that there’s too much stress through these symptoms.
I wanted to let you know that I am now in my 50s and doing well. Sometimes in life we go through things but always remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I have a beautiful family now and I am very glad I didn’t give up.
DO I sometimes feel a little anxious? Of course. But it is way more manageable now. The key is to learn how to manage the anxiety. I did get some counseling, I started listening to anxiety meditations on YouTube, begin exercising, even if it was just a walk, stayed away from sugar, as much as I could, caffeine, and never smoked. Another thing is staying active and doing things for other people. That took my mind off myself and it felt really good to help someone else even if I was not feeling 100%.
So, if there’s anyway you could speak with a counselor that would be great. Not sure how much you like to read, but there is a great book that many people on this site are reading. It’s called mindfulness and it teaches you a new way of thinking to manage your anxiety and have more peace of mind in your life! The book is white with a tangled ball of string on the cover . you can get it book stores or online.mindfulness is taught all over the world and people actually take classes for it. Some of the meditations are in YouTube are mindfulness meditation’s for anxiety etc. I hope this helps you at least a little bit. Stay positive and be a fighter for yourself! some days are better than others when you’re learning. There’s a lot of life to live . One day at a time. You can do it!

Great advice Jan,
Mine is a very similar story to yours.
Chronic anxiety now managed by mindfulness and meditation after years of meds and a difficult life with mental health.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Peace

yes, I have had endless testing also. Anxiety is a monster but it can be tamed. as long as you’re testing is OK, work on anxiety reduction. It also helped me to speak with a therapist who specializes in anxiety. This is difficult to be alone with sometimes it helps just to vent to someone else. Take care!
did you get dull chest pain in your left chest, near your nipple? I get pains that often move around in my body. Been diagnosed with panic disorder and I have health anxiety.
yes ive have pain everywhere. Just make sure that you have it checked out first and then when you know it’s OK, you can work on the anxiety
