can anybody help?

Hi there, i am a 20 year old female and i have been taking Citalopram 20mg for around about 6 weeks now.

At first the symptoms i experienced (abnormal adreams, sleep disturbance, dizziness, anxiousness, feeling sick and a few other minor symptoms) were unbearable, and so after 7 days i stopped taking the drug. however my doctor advised me that this would not solve anything, and infact if i didnt not take the medication my anxiety and depression would become worse.

So taking her advice i started taking citalopram again and also i am now seeing a counsellour.

The 2nd time around the symptoms were decreased and i began feeling much better.

Although now after 6 weeks or so im feeling drowzy, sleeping alot throughout the day, im not eating much, i have become forgetful, i feel slightly anxious and clingy. Im suffering terrible PMS and mood swings at the moment, im losing interest in things i enjoy, i cant sleep of a night and i am in such a disturbed routine that im not even taking my citalopram at a regular time of day.

Also just over a week ago my period was a week late.

I am also taking a supplement to help balance out my PMS and general mood swings, called Femibion Balance, i have been taking this around the same time as my citalopram, if not slightly longer.

Any ideas to why im feeling this way suddenly?

sorry i posted this twice! oops.

Whatever you do just be assured you are doing the right thing. The drug may relieve the symptoms to some degree but any underlying problems need to be sorted as well. That's where the counselling comes in. Is citalopram the first SSRI you've tried? There are plenty of others and individuals react differently to them - surf the Web and you'll see this. I had problems with Paroxetine (Seroxat) but Citalopram seems much better. Keep talking to your doctor.

Apologies if I'm telling you things you already know.

Hi, I am on Sertraline (another SSRI) and my period was only a week late. I take Vitamin B6 to help my PMS as I noticed my anxiety is alot worse at the time of my period. Have you noticed this pattern?

Id keep taking them and if not happy try something else, mine work lovely.
