Can anyone give me advice on stomach/gut problems please!!

I have been troubled with digestive disorders for many, many years. In the last year things have got very much worse,

When my digestive system is empty (first thing in morning) I feel ok usually. It is an hour or so after eating that the nausea and/or pain starts, it lasts for an hour or more and eventually eases off until I eat again.

I have had an ultra sound and CT scan of the abdomen and a Gastroscope plus a biopsy for H.Pylori which was negative. All the results have been normal. I have been on several different types of PPI drugs with no improvement. Earlier this year I was put on an IBS exclusion diet, nothing improved while I was on it nor was there any effect when i was phased off it.

I have been on a wheat free diet for over two years but nothing improved.

My life is almost totally dictated by this dreadful problem which no Doctor can find a name for. Please, can anyone offer any help. Thank you

Hi threeseries,

Sorry to hear about your problem. Here are 2 things I can think of that may help you or maybe you have already tried them:

1. Cut out all dairy

2. Cut out your multivitamin, zinc tablets or anything which is a tablet of concentrated vitamin or mineral. Almost EVERYONE gets abit of nausea if they take these things on an empty stomach. And if you are particularly susceptible then it could be giving you a hell of a lot of nausea, even on a full stomach. You can get enough vitamins from a moderately varied diet.

Hi,

I have had IBS for 2 years now, and It has caused me to be in absolute agony at times. Similar to you I have had all of the tests and came back 'normal'. Doctors can offer conflicting advice sometimes, so you have to make sure you are really clear about specific issues you are having, for instance one doctor wanted me to eat a high-fibre diet and take fybogel, which with ibs-d would have been totally unsuitable, as high fibre products send my tummy into complete spasm.

Anyway his year my IBS seemed to get completely out of control, and I was having to take a lot of time off studying and working, due to fainting, agonising stomach cramps and diarrhea. After trying lots of medication to no effect I have been put on dicycloverine hydrochloride which is working well for the pain. Pro biotics have done little for the issue but a few days ago I went to holland and barrett to try a new one with acidiphollis in it, so going to see how that goes.

I also recently started a blog to document my experiences and gain advice from others. IBS exclusion diets have done very little for me in the past, but I have just started the FODMAP diet, which is definitely worth looking into. Also some people have found the specific carbohydrate diet useful, but this is very strict. Speak to a doctor/ nutritionist before starting restrictive diets though. I dont expect FODMAP to work miracles, but I'm hoping it decreases my reliance on immodium as I have to take it daily.

Best wishes
