Can anyone help please?

Hi all! I am 10 weeks in and on 100mg. Feeling pretty good in the day but going to bed is a nightmare. Can’t sleep at all without sleeping tablets. Doctor has said now that I have to take one every other night. Finding it really hard, keep trying and failing. Getting worried now. Any advice please? X x x

It is better to take the antidepressant in the morning. Get plenty of exercise in the day as this will make you tired. I also took sleeping pills but I woke after 2 hours and I felt foggy the next day.

I would avoide the sleeping tablets. Now I take magnesium before bed which is supposed to calm you.

HI Rachael wot sleeping tablets are u taking? And how many do you take at a time? I’m still taking sleeping tablets every night. As I can’t sleep without them . X

Hi Lynn wot is magnesium?

Magnesium is a supplement you can buy from any chemist.  It is supposed to calm people and help them sleep. Xx

Does it work though? Cus I’ve been taking sleeping tablets now for the past couple of months. And I can’t sleep without them x

When my insomnia started in May 2017, my dr gave me zolpidem which I took for a couple of months till they lost their effects. My anxiety became extreme because I worried so much about not sleeping. I then went on zolpidem for another 2-3 months. I realised the pills were making me dependent. I gradually weaned off them by trying not to focus on thinking about sleep every time I went to bed.

I think my anxiety was due to post menopause, but women can have insomnia at any time.  Try the magnesium and see if it helps. Xx

Sorry I meant zopiclone as the first sleeping pill..

Hi all, thank you for the replies. I am on zopliclone 7.5. I am obsessed with trying to sleep.

Thanks lynn, really appreciate the advice. Hope all ok with you?

Hi Rachael why don’t you try taking 2 sleeping tablets instead of 1 x

Hi Drebra. What do you take please and for how long? X x x

Hi Rachael I’m on 20mgs of paroxatine and I’ve been on it now for the past 6wks x

Hi Rachel, something that helped me, I got in to a set fourteen and went to bed at the same time every night, then read until I felt tired, I found that took my mind off my racing thoughts. Also to focus on my breathing or a happy image in my head, your brain can't do 2 things at one so if you make it do a good thing it can't do a bad thing. I have a happy place image which is me and my husband in a beach bar on our honeymoon. You have slept well before and no reason why you can't again, you just have to believe it, at the moment you 'think you can't sleep without medication but you can, and will xx

Is that a sleeping tablet hun?

Thanks Kerry, I feel like it is my thing to best as I am pretty good in the day. X x x

No Hun paroxatine is my ad. But I do take sleeping tablets every night x

Are you on zopliclone? How low have you been taking the sleeping tablets?

Hi Rachael yes I am on them. I’ve been taking them for about 3months now. Y r u taking them aswell x

Yes hun. Has the doctor suggested cutting them down? I am panicking about getting addicted to them? X x x
