My sister was on bactrim a week before, and stil on it when she had bloodwork done, her creatinine went up, gfr came down. Wondered if bactrim affected the levels?
I am not sure what bactrim is...I am not in the medical field... I am a patient... I started dialysis just 3months ago...but if your doctor ordered the blood test...e or she would have asked about any medications you are currently taking. I will tell you when I found out I was experiencing renal failure... You could have knocked me over with a feather..I was at GFR 23 and told I was stage 4...
I freaked out and made an appointment with a therapist... I was so sure the test had to be wrong...I had to learn to trust my nephrologist...the the tests were right...so now a year and a half later I am on hemo-dialysis and seeing a therapist to learn how to face the new challenges it brings...and I am 60 years old...
Hi Pat...
I have kidney renal. My right kidney was removed in Sept. 2015. I still feel pain in my side and back. Its quite the same. I've had so many test done and everything shows am find. But am stll in pain. But no medications for it. Just insulin for my diabetes. Did you have both kidneys removed?
Bactrim is bad for the kidneys. It could have very well could have caused her levels to get worse.
