Can discontinuation symptoms begin 2 weeks after stopping sertraline?

I am just wondering if the bursts/waves of dizziness I am experiencing are due to discontinuation of sertraline. They didn't start until 12 days after the last dose and I thought that discontinuation symptoms usually started within a week of stopping?

I was only on low doses for a short period of time. I titrated from 12.5 mg to 50 mg in 12.5 mg increments each for 8 days, then back down to 25 mg and 12.5 mg for 5 days each, then stopped - total time on medication: 5 weeks. I did take one more 12.5 mg dose a week later, and then 12 days after that the bursts of dizziness started.

I did have pre-existing vertigo, which the sertraline might have helped a bit - this has returned after stopping the sertraline but the bursts of dizziness are a new, and very odd, sensation that I haven't experienced before.

Thanks

hi i have been on sertline for 4/5 weeks they seen to help but last night i woke with bad ache that could be due to other things but i felt very sick and had to get up to be sick.. have u experienced this? im new to the drug so not tapered off yet. not sure what to do x

Call UR doc..u may have to many things as u describe going on a at once. I am very sorry to hear sertraline has made u sick, sounds miserable. Never had any of those issues u describe.

I took it for many years for panic attacks & Depression. Then upped the dose a year ago..I lost my son ..the whole thing with the loss of my only child was 2much2bear....I am still trying to work thru the grief . It's almost been a year.

Sertraline is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor commonly prescribed as an antidepressant. It effects through increase of the serotonin amount in the brain. It helps me a lot. Everyone is different. U seem to suffer a lot of adverse reactions at once..

I hope UR dr can resolve this with u soon.

I meant to add to my post but it jumped up a off it posted.. These buttons are a bit too touchy at times... Well when ya think about it I get a bit touchy at times too!  Hehe

Coming off the drug is a bit tricky. I meant to add that I never went off Sertraline .

I have weaned off Prozac ...also a  selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor commonly prescribed as an antidepressant. It effects through increase of the serotonin amount.

I may have helped in some way added a contribution to UR dellemna. Of course it maybe a better Idea to call UR doc ask the nurse, just to be on the safe side.

Healing thoughts sent UR way.
