6 Months a go I received oral sex from a partner who had a sore throat. about 3 months ago my foreskin and the head of my penis has went complelty dry and the glans are red and sore. I need to use some sort of cream on it every day to stop it being dry. I no longer use soap, instead I just use warm water to clean my penis. I have been tested for chlamydia, gonorrhoea and the usual STI's which were all negative. I have never had a herpes outbreaks which would cause my symptoms.
Is it possible I could have caught a Strep infection on my penis ?
This sounds like a balanitis. I do not believe it is related to Strep infection and is more likely to be a Candida infection. An antifungal cream may help but really swabbs need to be taken to identify the bug if any.
Hi Andrew and thanks for the reply.
I thought is may have been balantitis or something retaled to it as I have the symptoms of red looking glans and skin.
I was prescribed Canesten cream and I also took the duo tablet but these didnt solve my problem, As long as I use Aqueous Cream or something similar I'm fine but as soon as I stop using it my symptoms return.
If I go back to my GP am I better to stop using the cream to allow my symptoms to return and would this give a better result on any swabb tests my GP might take ?
Thnks..
Yes. Discontinue the Aqueous Gel and allow symptoms return. Your GP may not be up for it and you may need to be referred to a dermatologist. Good luck.
