I was just tested positive for hsv 1 and 2. My doctor told me that my igg or igm just came back, and that I got the virus recently. My boyfriend is confused because he swears he's never had lesions or anything on his genitals before. We've also had plenty of sex and now all of a sudden I have herpes. And I know he's been faithful to me. He's getting tested this week so hopefully his test can clear some questions up. But I asked about the Brazilian because I had a Brazilian done on last Saturday. Sunday I had sex. Monday I began to see sores. If his test comes back that he contracted it recently as well, does that mean I could've caught the virus through the wax?
From what I have been told you can Carry the virus for years and not know. I just found out I have both and am still learning,trying to keep from losing my mind,and being abandoned by people I thought would never do that
The only way the tests can reveal whether it was recently acquired or not is if you have a positive swab and a still negative IgG. IgM tells you nothing, as it is a highly inaccurate test that the CDC does not recommend for herpes, but many doctors aren't aware of this and still order the test and draw conclusions from the results. Having said that, if this is your first outbreak, then usually that does occur within a week of infection. Could be from your bf (many guys carry it with no or few symptoms) or the wax, but only if they are unsanitary and double dip, etc.
