Can I get your opinions-2 nights at the ER BOWEL issues-IBS? Serious issue? HELP

New here and so confused I could use any advice at all! About 8 days ago I woke up in the middle of the night with incontinence of loose stool in my bed. My stomach hurt, pain and crampy, especially after eating. I went to urgent care and he did an x-ray and when he looked at it he said I was constipated and had a significant amount of stool in the colon so the diarrhea was actually caused by hard stool in the colon and the loose stool was moving around it. He said go home and take Miralax and I should be good as new. I went home and took Miralax and nothing happened except more distention, more pain, and still constipated, so I tried everything I could for the next several days including several enemas, Miralax 3 times a day, Colace, olive oil, etc. etc. Nothing worked, crampy pain got worse and so did distention and constipation. Still no stool, so now I'm getting pretty concerned because I am not a laxative user in any way so usually if I use one it works! So I go in to ER because my doctor couldn't get me in for over a week. The guy in ER did all kinds of tests and said everything looked great but the CT scan showed a significant amount of stool in my colon I needed to get rid of! He gave me 4 liters of Golytely bowel prep to take home and said drink this, this will work! I said "what if it doesn't?" He said "Oh trust me it will."..So I go home and drink the entire 4 liters. I go from brown water in the beginning to clear water in the end and still no bowel movement! Okay, now I'm really freaking out and thinking the absolute worst. My stomach is still getting bigger, now I'm shooting water out my rear and still have crampy pain. I figure something really has to be wrong for me to drink all that and still not have a BM! Especially with what the doctor said and BTW I have never gone this long without a BM in my life! It's over a week by now, So yes, I head back up to ER thinking okay this has got to be proof that something serious is going on and I'm scared s**tless (literally). I finally get in after sitting in ER for hours and the doctor gets an x-ray and says "yes it looks about like the first one did." I'm like okay what's going on? Do I have an impaction? He's like "no." "Well you're supposed to have some stool in there." I'm like "after drinking a whole bottle of Golytely? Do you think I have an ileus? He said no "You would be vomiting." He said you wouldn't have bowel sounds, you have bowel sounds. He said "You need to go home and stop doing all those laxatives and enemas and stuff before you do serious damage to your bowel and follow up with the GI doctor! I"m like WTH!? I have a history of lupus and diverticulitis and I have had a bowel resection before and I don't want another! I am so confused! Am I an idiot? Because I am starting to feel like I am crazy! Any opinions? Ideas? Yes, I will call a GI doctor in the morning but it is 2am and my head is still spinning from all this, sorry this is so long..thanks in advance.

You mentioned that you get pain right after eating? Have you noticed that certain foods don't cause you pain? If not try a food diary for a couple of days and track which foods make you feel worse. Does your pain stay in one place or move around. If it stays in one place then what part? I agree with the last doctor you visited. Stop taking all those medications as they can do serious damage to your bowels. Hope you get, and feel better. In the mean time try the food diary, and if you see any possible contributions to your stomach pain, try to stay away from those foods, and see if there is an improvement, in the next few days. biggrin

Try a food diary to see if any food is causing pain and try lots of fruit instead of laxatives to ease the constipation.  Oranges and prune juice help me and I have IBS.  I have had constipation for two weeks. Follow up with a gastroenterologist.

As well as drinking plenty of fluids water and hot strong tea.. try doing some exercises going for a long walk....using lots of abdominal and waist and bending and backward movements....drink the hot tea then exercise for about 15mins to half an hour this worked for me before i changed my eating habits....
