Can it still be gallbladder with tests clear?

I' was in pain for bout 6 months, started with a little pain under my right breast and turned into darts and then to which I was told was possible gallbladder and over the next few days spread right down to my appendix area, the nausea experienced was awful along with the pain! Was in and out of emergency doc and hospital, had blood tests, pelvic and tummy ultrasounds and a tummy MRI and all is clear! Docs think I'm making it up! After 6 months it eases completely, now 3 months later it's back as bad as ever! Anyone had similar because I can't function with it anymore

Hi, Yes it can still be gallbladder with the negative tests that you've had so far. You should ask for a HIDA scan because if they can't find any gallstones then its very possible that your gallbladder isn't working properly and the only way to find that out is via a hida scan. I had lots of test like you before hand and it was only when I had the hida scan did it reveal anything. I was in alot of pain, nausea, feeling worse after eating, pain under the right ribcage and going around to my back and upto my shoulder blade. Are you seeing a gastro as you do need a specialist in this area.

Good luck and let me know how you get on.

Hey!

Thanks a million for the reply! A gastro...no I'm not. Was back at the doctors today,I'm struggling with the pain, says it could now be IBS!!! Oh I don't know,I've asked for further tests but as I suffer with anxiety, they just keep saying I'm over reacting and there's no need.Im at my wits end now

Hi sorry I haven't been able to reply sooner. You must insist, I've had IBS for years and this isn't anything like IBS and I have anxiety, depression and pain like this will only make it worse.

Please keep pushing to see a gastro, gallstones can do exactly what you've experienced by your symptoms disappearing for a while then coming back. These sort of symptoms could also be ulcers as I had a gastroscopy  after my ultrasound all were clear and the biopsies I had too but there are several conditions with similar symptoms around that area so you do need to see a gastro and the relevant tests so that things can be ruled out or diagnosed.

I know its hard and when you suffer with anxiety already and no one is listening is must be very difficult for you. Can you see a different doctor?

Keep going back to your surgery and push for a referral to a gastro and they'll have the experience needed to diagnose you properly. Are you having help with your anxiety as this may help, I'm going to speak to someone at the end of the month as they won't judge and they'll listen.

Keep talking on here and I'll get back to you. You're not alone.

Take care x
