So it’s been a couple weeks since I was diagnosed with GHSV1, I have a boyfriend and I told him and he was super supportive, he DID NOT go get tested; therefore I do not know if I originally got it from him or if I’ve had it for awhile. We have been having sex but have no preformed oral on either one of us. Today I noticed he has a blister on his lip, so of course I started panicking. Can he give it to me Orally if I’m kissing him , and if he didn’t have it how did he get it orally? Should he go to the doctor to get valtrex?
If he has a current coldsore on his lip you most likely got ghsv1 from him when he was shedding the virus. You can still get oral hsv1 if he has a coldsore so I’d recommend you not kiss him while he has it. There isn’t a lot of info out there about ghsv1 (I have it too) but it’s been said that it’s harder to get herpes in both places once you have the antibodies... overall it is possible to still get hsv1 orally even if you have it genitally, same goes for hsv2. I would just be careful when he does have a coldsore but he cannot reinfect you genitally. However like I said there is a chance you can get it passed orally although I’ve read it is rare (I’m worried about this too and have posted about too)
Yes you can get it from him, wait it it heals. always hand washing can stop from spreading.
