Can my Dr do this without consulting me?

Im a 47 yr old man who has used 5mg diazepam for about 15 yrs for anxiety problems and its the only tablet that gets rid of stress related headaches. 56 tablets usually last about 2-3 months as 2-3 tablets are needed for 1 dose these days. My repeat prescription has just been deliverered and only 28 tablets, not to repeat for 2 months. Can the DR do this without consulting me? apart from the shortage of doses it will now cost twice as much. I would like to know where I stand as I havnt much trust in my Dr. regards M.K

hey

the doctors normally ring you up for a review if they want to reduce your tablets. give them a ring see what’s going off

You could always get another doctor’s opinion.

Drs in the Uk are notoriously against prescribing Diazepam, Ive been lucky that I found a dr ( now retired) to start the script off. Fot rhe past 10 yrs rhey have been trying to put me on all sorts of replacements some wirh truly hideous possible side effects. I fear they are stepping up this pursuit.

Hi Michael,
before you do anything you must speak to the doctor, they cant just cut medication to half does ,due to side effects, if they refuse to give you these tablets go private, find a private doctors who do not need referral letters, i went to one many years ago best thing you could do, we in this country are ruled by NICE. who dish out drugs that don’t help like statins and refuse drugs that do help its control of the masses.
