Hi I'm Jennifer, I am 49 years old and always suffered with back issues. Recently, After doing some activites I wasn't used to and overdoing it on walking around site seeing on vacation, I began to feel my lower and sometimes upper back hurt. Then I also have a feeling of Sciatica. But, the back paid seems to radiate to my hips and waste/abdominal muscles. I feels like a tugging, or aching feeling. As though I did 100 sit ups. I do have IBS, and have had a pelvic sonogram, blood tests and two colonoscopies. But, this feel very muscular. Is it possible that these to areas connect and pain can radiate back and forth? I would really appreciate if someone could explain and help me out..starting to get panic.
I am just wondering if you have ankylosing spondilotis? It is a form of arthritis and your bones fuse together. Most dr's don't check for it. A rhumotoligist will. It affects mostly lower back and neck but can affect other areas. If you have a gene HLA-B27. It is a marker for it. They check for that gene with a blood test. Worth a try?
Back pain and hip pains are associated with IBS. The stomach pain can feel muscular. Initially, I assumed I had pulled a muscle before IBS was diagnosed. I also have a bad back which can feel worse with Irritable Bowel. You can even get joint pain with the condition.
Jennifer, I would go to an acupuncturist, if I were you. I had pain in my sacrum area and the acupuncture took it right away.
You might also try a Biofeedback specialist. They'll get right down to it. I do Biofeedback.
Good luck
